We Are Not Alarmists! These Events Are Alarming!

Do you hear what I hear?

When a train approaches and the operator needs to warn people about the imminent threat of death by train, alarm bells will start ringing and red flashing lights will be visible to alert everyone of the approaching danger.

Daniel 8:23-25

And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

[24] And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

[25] And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

Heretofore those who presented the truths of the third angel's message have often been regarded as mere alarmists. Their predictions that religious intolerance would gain control in the United States, that church and state would unite to persecute those who keep the commandments of God, have been pronounced groundless and absurd. It has been confidently declared that this land could never become other than what it has been—the defender of religious freedom.

But as the question of enforcing Sunday observance is widely agitated, the event so long doubted and disbelieved is seen to be approaching, and the third message will produce an effect which it could not have had before.

As the “winds” pick up and people, churches and beliefs continue to be shaken and sifted, I am having to examine my foundations and mooring. I am having to search myself and ruthlessly “un-alive” the parts of me that do not look like Christ. It is a battle!

But if I don’t do it, the storm will reveal the integrity of my anchor, breaking me off into a see of sin and scepticism whence I see a whole lot of people are now willingly drifting.

The National Sunday Law, the event that Seventh-day Adventists have been “banging on about” for 180 years is almost here…are we prepared to meet it?
